How Do Cast Acrylic Tube Manufacturers Process Acrylic Tubing?

Cast acrylic tube is used for a wide range of applications across a variety of industries, from the medical field to mechanics. While these flexible and resilient tubes come in an endless array of lengths, colors and thicknesses, the process used by most acrylic tube manufacturers typically involves the following process.

US Cast's Manufacturing Process

First, we start with liquid MMA (methyl methacrylate), particularly Lucite MMA monomer. Then, we add our proprietary magic pixie dust formula and it turns into PMMA. We cook and cure the PMMA in special ovens from 8 days to 6 weeks or longer, depending on the OD (for rods) or the OD and wall thickness (for tubes). After we cook and cure, we cool the cured tubes and rods out of the ovens for several hours to days.

Once that is complete, we cut, grind, sand, smooth, and polish to the desired, finished size. We confirm product quality and tolerances meet specifications. We actually do multiple inspections, performed at each stage of manufacturing and packaging leading to our superior quality standards. We want to ensure the products meet the quality we and the client desire. We tenderly and protectively wrap the tube or rod. Then, we mark and store it by product type and size. Finally, we hand pack your shipment of US Cast rods and tubes for prompt, safe delivery.
